Free Floating Anger

Free floating anger refers to a generalized angry feeling that can affect a person’s view of the world, their approach to life, and their responses to events. A person with free floating anger may lash out in multiple ways. For example, free floating anger might be expressed verbally through body language, written expression, or actions. Free floating anger also may be directed inward. The angry person and those around him may not be able to identify a direct cause of the anger.

When people areangry without apparent cause, it is important to help them find the underlying cause, or to encourage them to talk with a professional. It is important to find a positive way to act on their anger.
