Cheesy Broccoli Casserole

1 ½ lb fresh broccoli
2 eggs, slightly beaten
¾ C cottage cheese
½ C shredded cheddar cheese (about 2 ounces)
2 T finely chopped onion
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
¼ C fine dry bread crumbs
1 T butter or margarine, melted

Preheat oven to 350º.

Wash and trim broccoli; cut stalks into spears. Cook broccoli, covered, in a small amount of boiling unsalted water until crisp tender, about 10 minutes; drain. Meanwhile, combine eggs, cheeses, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper in a bowl.

Arrange broccoli spears in a shallow 1 ½ quart baking dish; spoon cheese mixture over broccoli. Combine bread crumbs and melted butter; sprinkle over cheese mixture.

Bake uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes or until it is heated through and egg mixture is set. Serve immediately,
Note: Asparagus can be substituted for broccoli.
