As a Youth Development Educator, Michelle Bisel provides leadership to the 4-H and Youth Development program. She collaborates with other 4-H staff to strengthen program quality and expansion as well as identifies local youth development needs and provides training and educational programming to meet those needs. Additionally, Michelle participates in professional youth organizations and associations in order to achieve greater understanding of youth issues and their implications in educational programming.

Michelle graduated from Colorado Christian University with a degree in business administration focused on marketing. She went on to earn a master of science in economics with an emphasis in development from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. While studying in Colorado, Michelle became the director of an after-school and summer exchange program in inner city Denver. During the course of this time, she enhanced her leadership skills, met the social and emotional needs of the local children, as well as heightened awareness regarding the difficult constraints of poverty and its impacts place upon youth and their families amongst other community leaders in the Denver area.

Michelle Bisel also specializes in volunteerism with eight years of experience as a volunteer manager. Her volunteer management experience is enriched by five years experience as a middle management volunteer with a local organization.

Michelle began working with Extension in community and economic development among the southernmost five counties in Illinois. While in this position, she worked to bring equitable Internet access to underserved areas and educate youth about Internet safety. Thereafter, she was offered a Youth Development Educator position specializing in the formation and implementation of Special Interest 4-H Clubs within an 11 county region. She now serves Franklin, Jackson, Perry, Randolph, and Williamson counties as a youth development educator.
