Ashley Phillips provides health education programming and leadership to the residents of Cook County by providing programming on breast cancer and reproductive health.
Ashley earned her bachelors degree from Northern Illinois University with a focus on community health with a minor in children and family services. In 2010, Ashley graduated with a master's degree in public health (MPH) with a general focus on community health initiatives from Walden University.
Prior to her joining Extension, she worked as a community health coordinator for the Public Health Institute of Metropolitan Chicago where she addressed the needs of healthy eating and active living to prevent obesity in Suburban Cook County by creating policy, system and environmental changes.
Ashley held several positions that also included management of federal grant funds and providing direct services to underserved consumers in the south Chicago area. Specifics efforts include the Communities Putting Prevention to Work Program, funded by the Center for Disease Control; Healthy Start Program, funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services; the All Kids Program Healthcare of All Kids Program, funded by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services; and several local programs designed to support larger health initiatives.
Ashley's professional affiliations includes the Illinois Public Health Association, American Public Health Association and the March of Dimes Program Service Committee.
