Karen Moore currently serves as the 4-H / Extension Tax Issues and Affiliate Relations Coordinator based in the State 4-H Office. She served on many 4-H Youth Development committees prior to her employment at the Ford-Iroquois Extension Office in 1995. From 2002 - 2011, Karen provided leadership as the County Extension Director in the Unit.

Karen is a member of the Alpha Nu chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi (ESP), a National Honorary Extension Organization, and serves as the Alpha Nu Chapter's newsletter editor. She has been recognized three times by University of Illinois Extension with Awards for Outstanding or Innovative Programs including Face-to-Face Teaching in 1999, Publicizing Extension in 2001, and Unit Excellence - Teamwork in 2006.

Karen received her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Olivet Nazarene University. Her bachelor's degree was received in Elementary Education from Butler University in Indianapolis.

Karen is responsible for working with County Directors and 4-H Foundations and other affiliates to ensure they are compliant with and prepared to manage federal and state filing requirements on an annual basis. In addition, she works with Extension staff to maintain proper documentation from the 1,100 4-H community clubs in Illinois for compliance with federal and state filing laws along with University policies. To assure proper stewardship and administration of gift funds, the third component of Karen's duties includes serving as a liaison between County Directors and local Foundations who have University of Illinois Foundation investments. She also provides leadership for grant management through the State 4-H Office.

Karen works diligently to promote Positive Youth Development within the Illinois 4-H Youth Development Program. She strives to pursue the major focus of 4-H as a community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship, and life skills and "Making the Best Better".
