April Littig provides leadership in the 4-H Youth Development program for the traditional 4-H program and youth education initiatives in the five county unit. April provides researched based educational programs to youth and adult audiences geared towards healthy lifestyles, positive youth development, protecting and appreciating our environment, and workforce preparation.
Littig graduated from Illinois College with a bachelor's degree in Sociology/Social Work and a master's degree in child, family and community services from University of Illinois at Springfield.
She joined Extension as a youth development educator in Morgan and Scott County, where she served for ten years. She is presently a youth development educator with University of Illinois Extension serving Calhoun, Cass, Greene, Morgan and Scott Counties.
Included among her awards and recognition are: Early Career Service Award (IEPYE), IEAA Communication Learning Module or Notebook Award Winner for Biotech Curriculum, Youth Education Piece – Team award (IEPYE) and Communicator Award, Educational Piece (IEPYE).
April is a member of Illinois Extension Professionals for Youth Education (IEPYE) and National Association for Extension 4-H Agents (NAE4-HA).
4-H enrichment programs are available to all students and grade levels. Students learn about various topics using materials provided by the local Extension office and the University of Illinois.

The Extension Unit serves hundreds of youth, with many volunteers assisting. The traditional 4-H club setting provides members with an opportunity to develop important life skills including communication, teamwork, leadership and citizenship. Project work and clinics help members develop specific process skills related for the traditional 4-H experience.
