OEPN is network of public outreach and engagement professionals at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Our members work to share and coordinate university resources and act as champions for public engagement throughout the institution.
Members include university professionals active in student volunteering, community partnerships for research and teaching, and community service to residents across Illinois and beyond. We encourage all involved in university engagement to join OEPN and meet your fellow professionals.
OEPN meetings are held every month from 11am - 12pm on Zoom. Meeting information for the Fall 2021 semester can be found below.
To build a community of outreach and engagement practitioners who collaborate across campus units to support the development of policies, services, and infrastructure that improve the quality and effectiveness of UIUC's engagement with Illinois communities.
We envision a campus where:
- Students, Faculty, Staff, and Community Stakeholders are empowered to collaborate on outreach and engagement through clearly articulated points of entry, definitions, goals, and ethical guidelines aligned with university priorities.
- Outreach and engagement practitioners are embedded in a community of practice that enhances our professional development, program excellence, and internal grassroots advocacy for public engagement. Advocates for public engagement within the institution
- Outreach and engagement activities are communicated across units, advancing coordination and shared resources, while reducing burn-out and duplication of efforts.
- Community Benefit and Diversity/Equity/Inclusion are centered as core goals throughout all forms of university outreach and engagement initiatives.
