Serving DeWitt, Macon and Piatt Counties

Three senior women walk down a paved path bordering a mulched garden bed with plants and flowers.

Enjoy a day in the garden! The Garden Walks of Macon and Piatt counties are self-guided tours of selected home and community gardens. Each garden space includes educational materials and showcases inspiring ideas and a variety of themes including:

  • Native species
  • Horticulture therapy
  • Elaborate water features
  • Sustainable practices
  • And more!

Garden Walks are a fantastic way to spend a leisurely day exploring new design ideas and growing tips. Tickets are $10 in advance and are available starting May 2020 on the events registration page or at the Extension offices in Macon and Piatt counties.

The impact of the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) continues to create uncertainty and concern both globally and here in our community. Following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, the University of Illinois has implemented social-distancing protocols that impact all university events. Illinois Extension, as the outreach program of the university, aligns with all policies related to public health and safety.

Effective immediately, ALL face-to-face events organized by Illinois Extension have been cancelled, suspended, or transitioned to online delivery. As a result of this, the Macon County Garden Walk has been canceled!
