Please join the McHenry County Extension Master Gardeners as we tour the restored prairie of Jim Keenan of the Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee, in Spring Grove, IL. Jim has converted three acres of former agricultural land into native prairie. Jim will talk about establishing and maintaining a prairie on former farmland, the use of controlled burns and mowing, the characteristics of individual native species, etc. Jim is knowledgeable regarding native plants and can make recommendations about selection of plants for home landscapes.  The tour is on Saturday, August 17th, at 9:30am.  The tour will last approximately 1 hour.
