Would you like some help with your winter tree identification skills? The University of Illinois Extension can help!
A late fall/early winter tree identification workshop will be presented on December 3rd at the Douglas Hart Nature Center in Coles County. The workshop will begin at 1:00 pm and be finished at 3:30 pm. We will be in the nature center for a portion of the workshop, and outside practicing tree identification for the remainder of the workshop. So, dress appropriately for the outside portion of the day.
During this workshop, you will learn about twig characteristics of groups or genera of trees. Pictures, twig samples and twig keys will help to build your tree identification skills. Our outdoor tree study will focus on identifying trees using bark characteristics, and reinforcing your newly acquired twig identification skills.
