The impact of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) continues to create uncertainty and concern both globally and here in our community. In accordance with University of Illinois policy, Illinois Extension has deployed public health strategies designed to protect everyone’s health and safety. Effective Friday, March 13, all university-sponsored events with more than 50 anticipated attendees are suspended indefinitely.

Vermilion County Master Gardener Garden Day 2020

This year’s annual event will be held on Saturday, March 14, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at Danville Area Community College.

The doors open at 8 a.m., when the public is welcome to start shopping the vendors and making bids on silent auction items and baskets.

If you wish to listen to the speakers, enjoy lunch prepared by the DACC Culinary Arts School and receive a bag filled with garden goodies, the registration fee is $25.

Your payment by cash, check or credit card reserves your seat for presentations.

This event has sold out the last several years, so be sure to register quickly!

Speakers and topics for this year’s event:

  • All About Hummingbirds by Master Naturalist, Deanna Frautschi
  • Flower Garden Design by University of IL Horticulture Educator, Martha Smith
  • Gardening with Youth by Director of the Danville Public Library's Children's Garden Club, Master Gardener and Master Naturalist, Lisa Abdelghani
  • How to Kill Your Tree by University of IL Educator, Chris Enroth

Attendees will enjoy a 'made from scratch' lunch, prepared by the DACC Culinary Arts School. (Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate special dietary needs.)

Master Gardeners who attend will receive four continuing education hours.

For those who cannot commit to a whole day, the Spring Festival is open to the public from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at no charge.

All are welcome to come shop the vendors and bid on silent auction items. Please bring cash or checks as credit cards are not accepted for Silent Auction items, Garden Baskets, or by some vendors.
