Notes on the Event Schedule Change

CANCELED:  The impact of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) continues to create uncertainty and concern both globally and here in our community. In accordance with University of Illinois policy, Illinois Extension has deployed public health strategies designed to protect everyone’s health and safety.

This 4-H SPIN (Special Interest) Club focuses on sewing and textile skills and projects (beginner level). Open to all youth ages 8-18 (as of September 1, 2019)
Sessions will be held at the Sangamon County Extension Office (700 S. Airport Dr. Springfield, IL)

Sponsored and led by the Capitol Unit of the Sangamon County Association for Home & Community Education.

Meeting Dates: 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays April 2, 9, 16, 30 & May 7, 14. May 21 may be added if needed to complete project.

Participants are expected to bring a sewing machine (with manual if available). A limited number of machines may be available to borrow with advance notice, if lack of a machine is a hindrance to participation.

Cost: Free for current 4-H members; A $20 annual program fee will be required for youth not currently enrolled in 4-H for the 2019-2020 4-H year. (Need based scholarship assistance available if requested).

Participants will make a pillowcase the first meeting for a community service project (material provided), and then will make a small quilt or throw for their project during the remaining meetings. Materials needed by members for the quilt/throw will be discussed at the first meeting.
