CANCELLED--The impact of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) continues to create uncertainty and concern both globally and here in our community. In accordance with University of Illinois policy, Illinois Extension has deployed public health strategies designed to protect everyone’s health and safety. Effective Friday, March 13, all university-sponsored events with more than 50 anticipated attendees are suspended indefinitely.
University of Illinois Extension and Giant City State Park have teamed up to host Celebrating 50 Years of Earth Day on Saturday, April 11! This April marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, so join us to celebrate and learn a little more about nature in southern Illinois.
This family friendly event will include educational booths for youth and adults, with hands-on activities and crafts. Come out and add to our Earth Day mural, go on a scavenger hunt, listen to live music, plant a seed, and more! This event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP to the Visitor’s Center at 618-457-4836. This event is weather dependent.
