SPARK into 4-H  -  Virtual Program for Youth ages 8 - 13

Time: All sessions will be from 4:00-4:30 PM on the date listed.

These interactive, hands-on sessions will cover a wide variety of topics and will bring young people together (virtually) to learn new skills and discover new passions.

SPARK into 4-H is free! All sessions will be held virtually and connection details will be emailed out to those registered. Most sessions also include a supply kit that will be mailed to your home a few days prior to the session.

The registration deadline is one week prior to the session to allow time for mailing your kits.

Separate registrations for each session is required.

 

June 16, 2021: Cooking - In this lesson, youth will learn basic kitchen and food safety and receive an introduction to proper nutrition. Once registered, youth will receive a packet of recipes from which to choose, along with instructions to prepare one of the recipes prior to the virtual workshop so the group can discuss. Teen Teachers will also conduct a live cooking demonstration. Sign up by June 9, 2021.  Register for June Session

 

OTHER SESSIONS IN THIS SERIES:

  • January 13, 2021: Animal Science - In this lesson, youth will learn the parts of an egg and the stages of chicken growth.  We will also take a virtual field trip to learn how eggs get from the farm to our table! No supply kit needed.  You will need the following from your own kitchen: an egg, bowl, and toothpick. This event has passed.
  • February 17, 2021: Paper Circuits - During this lesson youth will be introduced to the basics of electricity and how circuits work. Using copper tape, watch batteries, coloring pages, and LED lights, attendees will create a bright and colorful piece of art. The supply kit will be mailed to you.  This event has passed.
  • March 31, 2021: Fiber Arts - Macrame´ is the art of ornamental knotting. It originated as a decorative way to finish a woven fabric and became a technique for creating entire items or garments. Using an instructional video, participants will create a simple keychain and learn more about different fiber arts projects. A supply kit will be mailed to you.  This event has passed.
  • April 14, 2021: Health - This lesson will introduce youth to the importance of physical fitness as part of a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, they will learn about three types of exercise with the main focus being on flexibility and balance. To conclude, the group will go through a yoga flow and practice poses that have been matched to the 4-H Pledge. A supply kit will be mailed to you. This event has passed.

  • May 12, 2021: Plant Science - Youth will learn about the germination of seeds while growing their own plants from seeds and create a self-watering planter! A supply kit will be mailed to you. This event has passed.
