Join us for a Seed Saving Workshop to turbocharge your garden for next year & do your part to preserve food culture!

Picture this - you just planted a garden and are getting tons of amazing vegetables and fruit and you think to yourself, how do I continue this success in future years? It's time to harvest and save seeds for next year!

Seed saving is easy when you follow three easy steps! In this workshop, led by Kankakee County Master Gardener Coordinator Holly Froning, you will learn when & how to harvest seeds from your garden, what plants to harvest from, and how to properly store them for the winter. You will also learn about how saving seeds helps preserve food culture, Heirloom crops wouldn't exist if it weren't for gardeners that grew and saved seeds!

The registration cost for this program is $5. Register in advance by September 5.

If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate, please contact froning@illinois.edu. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for meeting your access needs.
