Modern Homesteading

Whether you live in the third story of an apartment or on a 10-acre plot of land, learning homesteading skills can help bring you and your family closer to the food you eat. Collecting eggs, tending the garden, canning, drying herbs - all these things and so much more can help you in your everyday life to become more connected to your food, family, and community.

The first program* is an introduction to homesteading on January 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Jackson County Extension office. Gain the knowledge and hands-on guidance to help further hone your skills in the art of growing, raising, and preserving your own food. Register by calling (618) 687-1727 or visit go.illinois.edu/Intro2ModernHomesteading.

The event is free and open to the public. Unless otherwise noted, all programs will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Jackson County Extension office at 402 Ava Rd. in Murphysboro, IL.
