University of Illinois-Extension-Stephenson County 4-H is offering a Livestock Judging Club this winter. This club is open to all youth that are ages 8-18. 4-H membership is not required.
The Livestock Judging Club will meet every other Sunday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. (view schedule below), at University of Illinois Extension-Stephenson County, located at Highland Community College – Building R, 2998 W. Pearl City Rd. Freeport, IL 61032.
We will start on January 15, end date TBA.
Meetings will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on the following dates:
Jan. 15 & 29
Feb. 12 & 26
Mar. 12 & 26
April 2
Contest dates Include but are not limited to:
April 1, Carroll County (tentative)
April 15, Joliet Junior College
State 4H Livestock Judging Contest TBA (4-H membership is required to attend this contest)
Club participants will learn the basic skills of judging livestock (beef, swine, sheep, and goats) as well as how to fill out a score card, answer contest questions, and how to use production information.
