Mental health and substance use challenges continue to rise in Illinois. Help prepare yourself to be a resource, if needed, with this training. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. The session will cover common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges; common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges; how to interact with a person in crisis; how to connect a person with help; and expanded content on trauma, substance use and self care. This class is valuable for employers, police officers and other first responders, hospital staff, and any other individuals who care about those around them. Free Continuing Education Units are available for LPCs, LCPCs, LSWs and LCSWs. $30 per person; lunch is on your own. Please register by October 17.
