Extension Internship Program | Summer 2021

PROGRAM DATES:  June 1 to August 6, 2021

Explore an opportunity to gain marketable job experience and earn academic credit. Our 10-week program provides five interns a paid opportunity to explore a mentored career path in University of Illinois Extension field work in one of four Illinois Extension program areas:

  • 4-H Youth Development
  • Family and Consumer Sciences
  • Agriculture & Natural Resources
  • Community Economic Development

Interns will be assigned to an Extension unit in Illinois and paired with an Extension Educator to develop a program consisting of a complete logic model, program curriculum, evaluation tool, and an impact statement if time allows.

*Due to the unknown future status of COVID-19, some or all internship program work may be completed remotely if Illinois Extension offices are not fully open during the months of June-August 2021.


  • Undergrad student at College of ACES
  • Rising junior or senior: 2021-2022 academic year
  • Enrolled spring semester 2021
  • Not enrolled summer semester 2021
  • Overall GPA of 2.5


Interns will be paid an hourly wage of $15 on a bi-weekly basis during the 10-week program that runs from June 1, 2021 through August 6, 2021. Total compensation will not exceed $6,000 (gross) for the service period. As a student intern, you will work 40 hours per week.


Receiving academic credit for participation is contingent upon successful completion of the internship and willingness to enroll in a class within your respective department. To determine eligibility for college credit, please speak with your department academic advisor or contact:
