An Artifact Speaks
An Artifact Speaks is a field trip in reverse: students across the state can experience the successful interdisciplinary program that until now required a visit to the Spurlock Museum in Urbana. Teachers across the state have been trained to use the An Artifacts Speaks loan boxes, which include replicas of artifacts from ancient cultures of Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, India, Greece, and Rome. Each box also contains detailed artifact information and multiple lesson plans. The program includes web-based resources for teachers and students. Teachers do not need to receive the training to borrow the materials.
Twenty-two Extension units across Illinois currently participate in the program by loaning the boxes from their local offices.
