Charles Young is a native of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. He graduated from Champaign Central High School and earned his Bachelors of Applied Health Sciences degree in Recreation, Sports & Tourism with an emphasis in Sports Management from the University of Illinois. Charles has an extensive background working with youth and families in the Department of Children and Family Services/Social Work field for nearly 10 years. Before his transition to 4-H Youth Development, he served as a Sexual Assault Counselor/Prevention Educator in Vermilion County and worked as a Court Services Officer for the Champaign Juvenile Detention Center in Urbana, Il. Charles follows a blueprint curriculum, that was laid out prior to his arrival that he will enhance with the experiences he has in youth program coordination. He works with students, teachers, volunteers, and community leaders to provide an exciting, vocational, all-inclusive, learning environment through the concepts of diversity and team building. He is no stranger to spearheading projects and facilitating programs to better serve the 4-H youth and communities. He is dedicated and committed to the expansion of 4-H across Macon County. His strengths are youth development, sports, creative arts, music composition/production, and community service. He truly appreciates this opportunity to serve and work with the students, parents, community members and leaders of Macon County and surrounding areas.
