Herbert Chavez has been serving University of Illinois Extension since 2017, currently in the role of Marketing and Communications Coordinator for the Champaign, Ford, Iroquois, and Vermilion Unit.
In this position, he develops strategic decisions to ensure Extension and 4-H brands' images are recognizable to the public. Selects appropriate marketing tools and develops marketing materials to promote educational programs for the unit. Makes strategic plans to determine the best media for specific programs and target audiences. He manages online marketing, including web, email, newsletters, and social media sites. Also, he produces and creates videos to promote events, build brand awareness and attractively package learning materials to make them available to the community on our social networks. He enjoys working with his local educators and program coordinators to share the positive impacts Extension makes in people's lives and communities.
Herbert earned a bachelor's degree in Marketing and Business in his home country and developed in the broadcasting business area, working for more than ten years as a marketing manager at a TV station. He produced content for different TV shows during that time, achieving high rating points and advertising strategies for the sponsoring brands, generating good profits for his company and good results for advertisers.
In 2015, Herbert moved to the United States and worked in a creative agency in Orlando, FL, as an Account Executive and oversaw three brands, achieving good results. In 2017 he moved to Champaign, Illinois, and earned a second bachelor's degree in Arts focused on Organizational and Professional Development at Eastern Illinois University. He is currently in the final phase of a master's degree in Communications and Leadership at EIU.
