Hybrid Master Gardener Training starts February 16

You can become a Master Gardener if you have some knowledge or experience in gardening or landscape management, you are willing to learn about horticulture and share this knowledge with others, and you can give at least 30 hours of volunteer time a year.

Master Gardener Training is now being offered in a new hybrid format. Study online at your own pace then attend weekly live webinar sessions on Tuesday mornings.

The training will include 12 modules - an introduction, 10 subject-areas and graduation day.

Topics include: Botany; Soils and Fertilizers; Insects; Integrated Pest Management; Plant Diseases; Lawns; Fruits; Vegetables; Trees; Shrubs; Annuals and Perennials.

Master Gardener trainees must register for the classes and complete a volunteer background screening prior to the start of classes.  A fee of $160 is charged to cover the cost of the training manual and training supplies.

University of Illinois Extension provides equal opportunities in programs and employment. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in programming, contact Mary Fischer. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow enough time for meeting participant needs.
