County Extension Director
Macomb, IL
The County Extension Director provides strategic leadership for University of Illinois Extension programs across Henderson, Knox, McDonough, and Warren counties. This academic professional oversees local program delivery, staff supervision, fiscal operations, facilities management, and community engagement to advance Extension’s mission. The Director builds strong partnerships with local stakeholders, communicates Extension’s educational value, and ensures programs meet diverse community needs. Working closely with unit staff, volunteers, councils, and regional leadership, the Director cultivates effective teams, strengthens organizational systems, and supports high-quality, research-based outreach across the multi-county unit.
This position requires a master’s degree in fields such as Public Administration, Educational Leadership, Community Development, Adult and Continuing Education, Business Administration, Communications, Extension Education, or a related area. A master’s in progress may be considered if completed by the hire date. Candidates must have 3–5 years of supervisory experience, strong skills in personnel and fiscal management, and experience working collaboratively within complex organizations. Preferred qualifications include program development, needs assessment, marketing, evaluation, grant management, and facilities oversight.
Salary Range: $72,000–$99,000
Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development
St. Charles, IL
The Extension Educator provides leadership for community-based education that advances youth development in DuPage, Kane and Kendall counties. This academic professional develops, delivers, and evaluates innovative, research-based programs for 4-H Clubs, youth groups, and educational initiatives focused on leadership, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and workforce readiness. Working with volunteers, community organizations, and interdisciplinary Extension teams, the Educator expands youth access to educational opportunities, fosters partnerships, and strengthens statewide initiatives in youth development.
This position requires a master’s degree in Youth Development, Education, Community/Public Health, Leadership Studies, Agricultural/Environmental Sciences, or a related field. A master’s in progress may be considered if completed by hire date. Candidates must have experience with youth development best practices and working with diverse youth populations. Preferred qualifications include volunteer management, program planning, evaluation experience, and familiarity with University of Illinois Extension.
Salary Range: $59,000–$82,000.
