Visiting Extension Outreach Associate, Health and Community Wellness

The Visiting Extension Outreach Associate, Health and Community Wellness, develops and implements educational programs that help individuals and communities improve food access and navigate food safety-net benefits. This role focuses on community-level planning, resource coordination, outreach, and partnership development to address food insecurity and support overall health and well-being. The Outreach Associate works closely with community organizations, professional networks, and local stakeholders to provide training, technical assistance, educational resources, and support for food benefit programs. The position also evaluates program impact, contributes to research-informed educational materials, and helps strengthen community systems that promote equitable access to healthy food.
This position requires a master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health, community health, family and consumer sciences, or a related field. Candidates must have experience organizing and facilitating community groups and working with diverse populations in community settings. Preferred qualifications include experience with University of Illinois Extension. Strong communication, interpersonal, technology, and collaboration skills are essential.

Visiting Senior Program Lead, Community and Stakeholder Engagement

The Visiting Senior Program Lead, Community and Stakeholder Engagement, provides strategic leadership for building, coordinating, and sustaining partnerships that advance the work of the Center for Food Systems, Nutrition Security, and Health Integration (FSNSHI) and affiliated Health and Community Wellness programs. This role oversees statewide stakeholder engagement strategies, community partnerships, grant-supported initiatives, and staff development efforts focused on food systems, nutrition security, community health, and wellness. The Senior Program Lead works closely with Extension leadership, community organizations, funders, and partners to strengthen collaboration, support grant development and implementation, enhance communication and outreach efforts, and ensure programs achieve meaningful, sustainable impact across Illinois.
This position requires a master’s degree in nutrition, community or public health, adult education, organizational leadership, community development, food systems, or a related field. Candidates must have at least five years of professional experience in community engagement, outreach education, stakeholder relations, systems coordination, or related areas; experience building partnerships and coalitions related to food, nutrition, agriculture, and health; and experience supervising staff and facilitating groups to achieve program goals. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D., experience with University of Illinois Extension, experience translating funded project goals into stakeholder engagement strategies, and experience leading multi-site or regional Extension programs.

The Visiting Senior Program Lead, Digital Education Strategy, provides strategic leadership for the development, coordination, and delivery of digital and technology-supported Extension programs within the Center for Food Systems, Nutrition Security, and Health Integration (FSNSHI) and affiliated Health and Community Wellness programs. This role oversees statewide digital education initiatives, technology-enhanced program delivery, staff development, and grant-supported projects that advance food systems, nutrition security, community health, and wellness. The Senior Program Lead works closely with Extension leadership, educators, campus partners, and external stakeholders to strengthen digital learning strategies, support program innovation, develop policies and best practices, and ensure high-quality, accessible, and impactful educational programming across Illinois.
This position requires a master’s degree in nutrition, community or public health, adult education, organizational leadership, community development, human development, food systems, communication, or a related field. This role oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Extension education systems, professional learning opportunities, workforce development pathways, credentialing initiatives, and funded projects that advance food systems, nutrition security, and community health. The Senior Program Lead works closely with Extension leadership, campus partners, funders, and community organizations to strengthen educational infrastructure, support grant development and implementation, establish standards for instructional quality and accessibility, and expand the capacity of Extension professionals and partner organizations across Illinois.
This position requires a master’s degree in nutrition, community/public health, adult education, organizational leadership, or a related field. Candidates must have at least five years of professional experience planning, developing, and implementing community education programs; experience supervising staff and facilitating teams to achieve program goals; experience with grant writing and coordination; and experience implementing adult learning theory, instructional design, and digital learning platforms. The Visiting Senior Program Lead, Research and Evaluation, provides strategic leadership for research, evaluation, and data-driven decision-making within the Center for Food Systems, Nutrition Security, and Health Integration (FSNSHI) and affiliated Health and Community Wellness programs. This role oversees statewide research and evaluation strategies, grant development, data collection and reporting systems, program evaluation efforts, and research initiatives focused on food systems, nutrition security, and community health. The Senior Program Lead works closely with faculty, Extension professionals, community partners, and stakeholders to advance interdisciplinary scholarship, support funded research, strengthen evaluation capacity, translate findings into effective Extension programs and outreach tools, and ensure research and evaluation efforts generate meaningful impact across Illinois and beyond.
This position requires a master’s degree in food systems, human nutrition, community health, public health, higher education, evaluation, or a related field. Candidates must have at least five years of relevant professional experience; experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods and applied evaluation; experience supervising and mentoring professional staff and student employees; and experience using data analysis and data visualization tools. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in community nutrition, community/public health, evaluation, or a related field; experience with University of Illinois Extension; experience securing research funding from federal agencies or major foundations; and experience co-authoring peer-reviewed publications and translating research for practitioner, policy, and public audiences.
