Extension Educator, Assistant 4-H Memorial Camp Director
Monticello, IL
The Extension Educator, Assistant 4-H Memorial Camp Director, provides leadership in developing, delivering, and evaluating youth development and adventure-based educational programs at the 4-H Memorial Camp. This academic professional leads on-site and off-site leadership and challenge course programming, including low and high ropes, climbing, rappelling, and zip-line activities, while ensuring compliance with ACA and ACCT standards. Working collaboratively with the Camp Director, Extension staff, volunteers, and partner organizations, the Educator supports camp operations, staff training, emergency response, and program quality while fostering leadership, teamwork, and life skills among youth participants.
This position requires a master’s degree in camp program management, outdoor recreation, youth development, educational design, or a related field, along with experience working in youth development or a closely related area. Preferred qualifications include teaching experience, leadership experience with high and low ropes courses, certifications in challenge course facilitation and First Aid/CPR, and familiarity with University of Illinois Extension programs.
Salary Range: $59,000–$82,000.
Visiting Extension Outreach Associate, Illini Science Policy Scholar
Urbana, Springfield, or Chicago, IL
The Visiting Extension Outreach Associate, Illini Science Policy Scholar, provides applied research, policy support, and public service leadership through placement with a state agency or legislative office. This academic professional supports projects that inform and advance public policy related to agricultural equity, digital equity, disaster preparedness, and economic equity, with a focus on improving outcomes for historically underserved and underrepresented communities in Illinois. Working collaboratively with Illinois Extension, host agencies, community organizations, and policymakers, the associate conducts research, designs outreach and educational resources, and contributes evidence-based insights to policy development and public engagement efforts.
This position requires a master’s, doctoral, or professional degree and experience engaging in community-based work. Preferred qualifications include a degree from a University of Illinois campus, familiarity with Extension or land-grant systems, and an understanding of federal and state government processes.
Salary: $50,000 annually (Urbana/Springfield) or $55,000 annually (Chicago).
