Partnering to Preserve Ecosystems

One-third of the population of the Great Lakes lives along Lake Michigan’s shores between Milwaukee, Wis., and Michigan City, Ind. Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant works in partnership with key regional organizations, institutions, and agencies to reach more audiences and multiply opportunities for success. Funded through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric AdministrationUniversity of Illinois, and Purdue University, Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant focuses on a 104-mile stretch of heavily urbanized and industrialized shoreline. The program uses research, outreach, and education to bring the latest science to communities and residents, and helps strengthen and preserve ecosystems and communities.
