Shasta Hladovcak has worked for the University of Illinois Extension since 2019. She works in the Illinois Nutrition Education Program providing quality nutrition education to the LaSalle county area through programs offered to youth, adults and families. We aim to improve the overall health of the community through better nutrition, physical activity, and increased healthy food access.
Shasta’s life experiences have helped to make her a valuable asset to the INEP program to build relationships throughout the community. In 1999, she earned an A.A.S. in Aviation Flight and a B.S. degree in Forestry-Environmental Education from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. She is an elected official in local government, a PTO vice-president, and holds a substitute teaching certificate in Illinois. Her volunteer work with children and adults makes her a passionate advocate for the community at large. She, along with other staff, earned the Illinois SNAP-ED Team award at the 2020 INEP Conference.
Shasta believes that when individuals of all ages are brought together in a healthy way, the more of a community we all become.
