Calling Frog Surveys in LaSalle County

LaSalle County Master Naturalists conduct Calling Frog Surveys across seven routes throughout the county. This ongoing project collects data on frog and toad populations by identifying species through their calls. The surveys help scientists monitor amphibian abundance and distribution, informing conservation and land management decisions. As a result of this work, volunteers discovered that cricket frogs are incredibly abundant in LaSalle County — contrary to previous beliefs that they were not present in the area.
