After recognizing the need for a public native-seed collection space, the Pollinator Production Plot Committee was established. Master Naturalists in Carroll, Lee, and Whiteside counties teamed up with Master Gardeners and other local volunteers to increase the availability of native plants in the region. The committee received approval in 2025 from the City of Morrison in Whiteside County to establish a 2,000-square-foot native seed collection plot at a local park that will be a hub for environmental education and native seed collection. Volunteers grew native plants at the Sauk Valley Community College Greenhouse for transplant and purchased supplemental native plugs to plant in fal 2026.
