Pollinator Habitat

The Ostermeier Demonstration Garden located in Springfield, has been a joint Master Naturalist and Master Gardener volunteer garden project for the past 15 years. This 2,000-square-foot native garden started in 2012 and was redesigned in 2024. As volunteers planned for the new garden, they held a program to invite the public to join them in the progress of the redesign. This resulted in the creation of a three-part program to educate the public about how to incorporate and design a native garden for their own landscapes. In the last two years, thirty-three participants have completed the series of classes, and several of these participants designed and planted their own native gardens.
