Putnam County Master Naturalists participate in native seed collection at the Dixon Waterfowl Refuge. This ongoing project supports habitat restoration by gathering seeds from native plants across multiple sites within the refuge. The collected seeds are used to restore and enhance prairie and wetland ecosystems, helping to preserve biodiversity and improve ecological resilience. Volunteers play a vital role in sustaining long-term conservation efforts at this important natural area.
