Pollinator gardens at the Barkhausen Cache-River Wetlands Center

Through the Master Naturalist program, one person can make a big impact. In Massac County, one volunteer contributes to many birding citizen science projects, develops pollinator programming, and manages the pollinator gardens at Cache River State Natural Area. There’s no shortage of work being done in the county. This Master Naturalist organizes the adoption and maintenance of 12 small pollinator gardens at the Barkhausen Cache-River Wetlands Center. Each garden is designed to highlight a different type of planting for pollinators.
