Youth Nature camp with the YMCA

The Kankakee Master Naturalists partner with the YMCA to run a weeklong youth nature camp. In the morning, Master Naturalists cover a variety of nature topics, with several dozen students aged 5-11. Many students come from homes where they have very little interaction with nature. One lesson was taught about worm composting; many campers had never held a worm. All of the campers had the opportunity to take home their own worm farm.
