The LaSalle County 4-H Show and Junior Fair was held July 9-12. The county 4-H exhibition show is an exciting time for 4-H members. It is an opportunity to display to the public the hard work, time and skills they have put into their exhibits. It is also an opportunity for young people to show animals they have been tasked with the responsibility of purchasing or raising and caring for, to be shown at the livestock shows. 4-H exhibition shows are important because they celebrate 4-H members’ achievements, talents and provide opportunities for youth to develop life skills, responsibility and decision making in addition to making memories.
An important aspect of the fair is judging. 4-H projects are judged on their quality of workmanship. Although competition is an important part of the fair, the real benefit for 4-H members lies in competing to better their own skills. It’s exciting for 4-H members to win ribbons and trophies, with goals to advance to the state fair exhibition show.
The success of a great 4-H show is dependent upon the culmination of an endless amount of volunteers. We are grateful to our superintendents, judges, club leaders, families and the many other volunteers who help in putting together such a fabulous 4-H exhibition show.
