University of Illinois Extension invites you to participate in the upcoming 4-H library programs. We will offer programs in Bureau, LaSalle, Marshall & Putnam Counties this summer, free of charge, and full of fun!
There are three programs being offered this summer. The first, From Farm Field to Ball Field will teach youth about how America’s favorite past-time would not be possible without local farmers. They will explore baseball foods and products that are made from agricultural products and create a baseball mobile. From Farm Field to Ball Field will be presented at the following locations:
- Ohio Public Library on June 1 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Please call the library to register.
- McNabb Public Library on August 3 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Please contact the library to register.
The second program topic is a popular one! Camping 101 is a one-hour program that will teach youth how to pack a backpack for camping. They will learn about healthy snacks, staying hydrated, and basic first-aid skills to have a fun, safe, and healthy outdoor adventure. Children will participate in activities and receive the supplies to pack their own backpack. Camping 101 is available at the following locations:
- Peru Washington Park (West Street shelter) on June 7, 8, and 9 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Please call the LaSalle County Extension Office (815-433-0707) or visit https://go.illinois.edu/lccamp22 to register.

The last program topic is Find Your Spark with 4-H! Come and explore two of 4-H’s favorite topics: dogs (animal science) and nature art. This is just a snapshot of what 4-H has to offer but will give youth an opportunity to explore 4-H lessons and projects. Participants will first learn about pet care and training (and hopefully meet a special pet), and then create their own nature project with wood and a variety of seeds and grains. Find Your Spark with 4-H! will be presented at the following locations:
- Granville Public Library on July 6 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Please call the library or visit go.illinois.edu/glspark to register.
