CHILLICOTHE, Ill. –Illinois 4-H members from six counties demonstrated focus, precision, and sportsmanship during the annual Summer Sizzle Shoot held June 6 at the Chillicothe Sportsman’s Club. Eighty-nine youth participated in the multi-discipline Illinois 4-H Shooting Sports Contest, organized by University of Illinois Extension 4-H staff and volunteers from Marshall-Putnam counties, with additional support from volunteers in LaSalle and Stark counties.
“We are proud of the dedication and sportsmanship these youth displayed throughout the competition,” said Anne Scheel. “Events like the Summer Sizzle Shoot help young people build confidence, develop responsibility, and create friendships with other 4-H members from across the region.”
“We look forward to this event every year,” said one parent.
Participants competed in air rifle, .22 rifle, shotgun, and archery events across three age divisions: junior, intermediate, and senior.
