Four Seasons Gardening Program Offers Second Program of Free Summer Webinar Series

The summer series of the University of Illinois Extension’s Four Seasons Gardening Program, which focuses on environmental stewardship, home gardening, and backyard food production, got underway the month of June. The public is invited to participate in this free webinar series. The next session of the series, set for Tuesday, July 14th at 1:30 p.m., is titled “Living Carpets: Ground Covers”.  Unlike daylilies, groundcovers should be ornamental year-round, and low maintenance once established. Learn some new options for ground covers, including plants you may not think of, to create these living carpets. These types of plants will be highlighted throughout the talk with University of Illinois Extension Horticulture Educator Kelly Allsup.

Webinars are available for viewing from wherever you have internet access by pre-registering. Recorded videos of these sessions can be viewed following the program at go.illinois.edu/fourseasonsrecordings. Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all local county offices are closed and are unable to offer viewing options at those locations.

The final topic in the Summer series is “Adventures in Edible Landscaping” set for Tuesday, August 11th at 1:30 p.m.

Each session is free to the public. Advance registration is needed. You may call the Bureau, LaSalle, Marshall and Putnam County University of Illinois Extension headquarters office for more details at 815-224-0889, or you may email Extension Program Coordinator Meg Overocker
