What is 4-H? 4-H is a youth development program that welcomes everyone from all backgrounds, with all interests, in every county in Illinois. Our programs teach and develop leaders, innovators, builders, and entrepreneurs through hands-on experiences in a secure, safe environment. 4-H members are offered opportunities to explore a variety of topics, including animal sciences, civic engagement, food systems, STEM, healthy living, and environment.  University of Illinois Extension also offers youth short-term experiences through special interest clubs, public workshops, school enrichment programs, day camps, and after-school partnerships. Even in 2020, 4-H continued to serve and welcome everyone through prerecorded and virtual lessons to continue its mission. Families are welcome to join at any time; we welcome your involvement!

Who are we? The 4-H Expansion and Review Committee is made up of youth and adults who examine the programming in each of the local county’s 4-H programs. Together, we review and brainstorm ways to make our 4-H programs better and stronger to expand and serve community partners, agencies, schools, and communities and to increase youth involvement. We have seen firsthand how 4-H programs positively impact the lives of both youth and adults when we partner together.
