W. Travis Meteer is a Beef Extension Specialist. His Extension programming involves nutrition, genetics, reproduction, grazing, and marketing in the areas of cow-calf, stocker, and feedlot production. He is also involved in planning, executing, and disseminating applied research at the University of Illinois’ off-campus research stations.

Meteer holds a Master’s degree from the University of Illinois in ruminant nutrition. While in graduate school, he coached two national champion Illinois 4-H livestock judging teams. He grew up on a diversified livestock farm in central Illinois that he continues to help operate and oversee.
