Just one year of the IL-EATS program has had a transformative impact on the Illinois food system. Funded by the USDA’s Local Food Purchase Assistance, IL-EATS buys food from Illinois farmers at fair market value and distributes their foods at no cost to communities in need. Farmers are reinvesting back into their businesses, and neighbors are receiving high-quality, locally grown produce, proteins, grains, and dairy products.
This video offers an overview of what farm-to-food assistance can look like, featuring the voices of the farmers, community partners, and local leaders bringing IL-EATS to life.
