With the cooler fall temperatures, gardeners are starting to develop cool-season gardens. Garden varieties can include short-term crops, such as cabbage, lettuce, radishes, spinach, among others. But there’s one fall crop that is planted in the fall and will be harvested the following summer, depending on the growing season. That crop is garlic. From home gardeners to growers with small acreage, this presentation will be of benefit!
Join University of Illinois Extension Educators James Theuri (jtheu50@illinois.edu) and Laurie George (ljgeorge@illinois.edu) on September 30, 2020 at 6 pm CST as they discuss the ease of growing this herb. Topics will cover cultural techniques when choosing a planting site, variety options, fall planting (including planting into cover crops), cultivation techniques, pests and diseases, as well as spring harvesting, curing, cleaning, and storage of the bulbs. The event is free, and we will be glad to have you! Pre-registration is required by September 29, 2020.
