Environmental Education at State Parks

"Lizards Up Close" is an interactive program where Master Naturalist volunteer Brooke Hubbard uses her pet lizards to familiarize youth with their behaviors, diets, and safe handling. Participants also learn how to identify and observe reptiles in the wild. Brooke has presented at the Beall Woods Visitors Center on several occasions. Master Naturalist Bob Shelby uses his extensive knowledge of prairie chickens and other native birds of Illinois to educate school groups and adults. He has taught at conservation days, 4-H events, and other youth events. Bob has presented at Beall Woods State Park, Sam Dell Lake, and Red Hill State Park.
