Master Naturalists support Giant City State Park by aiding conservation efforts prioritized by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Volunteers assist with trail maintenance, litter cleanup, invasive species management, bluebird trail monitoring, and providing information services. They educate visitors at events and by providing programs. Attracting over 1.5 million visitors annually, the park benefits from volunteer efforts that enhance the local environment and community. Master Naturalists inspire a broader sense of responsibility toward nature. Some volunteers serve on the local Friends Board, strengthening community engagement and supporting the park’s growth.
