UTICA, Ill. – Illinois is home to a fascinating variety of reptiles, from sleek snakes to hardy turtles, and many of them can be found right in our own backyards. Join us on February 5, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the Utica Public Library (224 Mill St, Utica, IL 61373) for Scales & Tails: Reptiles of the Prairie State.
A Master Naturalist volunteer will share insights into the reptiles that inhabit our state, including their unique behaviors, habitats, and adaptations. The presentation will feature amazing photographs of species observed locally near Starved Rock State Park, offering a close-up look at wildlife you might encounter in the area.
Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a curious learner, or simply want to appreciate the diversity of Illinois wildlife, this program is a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of reptiles and their importance in our environment.
