Karter Burgdorf is an aquatic invasive species outreach associate based at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe. His work focuses on researching human knowledge and behaviors driving non-native aquatic species introductions in southern Lake Michigan, as well as creating and delivering outreach materials to empower stakeholders to take action.

Born and raised in the Great Lakes state of Michigan, Karter received his B.S. in environmental biology and zoology at Michigan State University. As an undergraduate research assistant, he worked with MSU’s Department of Fisheries and Wildlife to research aquatic invasive species in the state’s inland lakes, along with educating recreational boaters and anglers about prevention.
