Michelle Berg is an Ag. & Natural Resources Program Coordinator serving Calhoun County. Berg works through a partnership with the McCully Heritage Project in Kampsville where she conducts environmental and agroforestry programming. Berg leads programs on native woodland plants, winter tree id, invasive species control, prehistoric Native American plant use, maple syrup production, shiitake mushroom production, backyard composting, and vermicomposting. She serves as the program coordinator for the Calhoun, Cass, Greene, Morgan and Scott County Master Gardeners and Master Naturalists.
Berg holds a Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in Cultural Resource Management from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville; and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology/Anthropology from Truman State University, Kirksville, Missouri. She completed the Agroforestry Academy conducted by the University of Missouri Center for Agroforestry and has a Graduate Certificate of Professional Development in Horticulture from the University of Illinois. She worked as an archaeologist for over two decades at sites in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Arkansas.
Berg is a member of the Illinois Tree Farm Committee, a Board member for the TreeHouse Wildlife Center, a member of the Environmental Education Association of Illinois, a Board member for the Two Rivers Arts Council. She has served with the University of Illinois Extension since 2008.
