Beth has an extensive career in education. She has 25 years of experience in formal classroom education. She has also taught both youth and adults in non-formal education programs, including college level courses. Volunteerism is core to Beth’s focus and she has both served as a volunteer as well as currently providing leadership to community volunteer groups. Beth holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Linguistics from Illinois State University, and a Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction with an interest in Multicultural Education from National Louis University. She holds certificates in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. Beth serves as the 4-H Youth Development Educator for University of Illinois Extension - Bureau, LaSalle, Marshall, and Putnam Counties, to bring evidenced-based programs to youth to explore opportunities and to acquire necessary skills for future success.
Positive youth development is a passion for Beth. The Extension concept of reaching and welcoming all is core to her theory of education and development. She promotes teamwork amongst her staff, consistent communication with her clubs, readiness and leadership skills for her youth, support and leadership for the volunteers, and partnerships with local schools and organizations. Beth believes that youth benefit when the whole community works together to reach a common goal.
