Local families are invited to Whispering Pines for 4-H Family Fun Day on April 20 for a day of outdoor youth activities. Thriving youth are the core of healthy, robust communities. Illinois Extension’s mentorship-based youth development model focuses on social competence, academic success, career development, and community connection. The 4-H experience creates opportunities and environments for all youth to thrive now and in the future.

Families with children ages 5-18 can participate in air rifle, archery, kickball, human foosball, a fishing derby, crafts, a presentation by the Corps of Engineers on Native Birds, and a service project for animal shelters.
A hot dog lunch will be provided.
The cost is $10 per child (those who register by April 3 will get a t-shirt)

Tentative schedule for the day:
8:30 a.m.-check-in opens
9 a.m.-fishing derby begins (bring your fishing gear)
9:30 a.m.- crafts open
11 a.m.-fishing derby weigh-in
Noon-lunch (runs until 1 p.m.
Noon-Dog toy service project (runs until 1 p.m.)
1 p.m.-Corps of Engineers program on Native Birds
2 p.m.-Archery (ages 10 and older)
2:30 p.m.-Kickball begins
3 p.m.-Air Rifle (ages 10 and older)
3:30 p.m.-Human Foosball begins
4 p.m.-Shotgun (ages 10 and older)
5 p.m.-door prize drawings (participants need not be present to win)

Families are welcome to come and go for the activities they chose, or stay all day and try it all.
4-H membership is not required.

NOTE: Youth must be 10 or older to participate in the Shooting Sports
