The tenth annual backyard maple syrup production workshop will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 10am-12:15pm at the Dixon Springs Agricultural Center, located at 354 State Highway 145 N, Simpson, IL  62985.  This program is free and open to the public. 
Before the workshop, we are hosting a pancake breakfast as a 4H fundraiser.   Join at us 8:30am for pancakes and real maple syrup made right here at the Dixon Springs Ag Center ($10 per person, $8 for kids under 10).  We will also have a limited number of bottles of maple syrup for sale as part of the fund raiser.

 
The free workshop will cover the basics of maple syrup production and allow attendees to see firsthand the entire process of backyard maple syrup production.  Additionally, we will discuss scaling up production and advanced techniques and tour our 100 tap sugarbush operation.  Kids activities will be available to provide a fun way to learn more about maple syrup production.

Program Schedule
  • 8:30am to 9:30am - Optional pancake breakfast 4H fundraiser ($10 per person, $8 for kids 10 and under)
  • 10:00am to 11:30am - Maple syrup basics, kids activities, field tour
  • 11:30am to 12:15pm - Advanced techniques and equipment demo
