During 4-H Federation’s January club meeting, members created Valentine’s Day cards to distribute to Perry Memorial Hospital patients.  The handmade cards were delivered this week in advance of the holiday.

4-H members are encouraged to develop and practice skills to become helpful in their club, community, country, and world.  Community service projects are an opportunity for youth to develop a sense of pride and ownership for the community in which they live. Additionally, community service allows youth to learn the value of giving back to the community while working with adults and helping others at the same time.

4-H Federation is a group of 4-H members ages 13 and older who come together from clubs throughout Bureau County to work on community service, leadership and presentation skills, teamwork, and building friendships, all while working together.  Some of the notable activities Federation has taken part in is the annual Easter Basket donation drive, Holiday Gift Workshop, and “Hands to Larger Service” Winter Accessory Drive.

For more information about the 4-H program, call University of Illinois Extension – Bureau, LaSalle, Marshall, Putnam Unit Office at 815-875-2878. Extension offices are located in Princeton, Ottawa, Henry and in Oglesby on the IVCC campus.
