Bureau County 4-H to Honor Virtual Show Participants

While 2020 has required the reimagining of several 4-H events, such as the 4-H Fair, University of Illinois Extension in Bureau County is planning to honor its members with a drive-thru awards ceremony.  On Friday, September 25th from 4:30 – 6:30 pm, Bureau County 4-H virtual show participants are invited to come to the Bureau County Fairgrounds, for a drive-thru style ceremony, to receive their awards and ribbons.

“The need to move our 4-H Fair to a virtual format was necessary for the safety of our members, families, and volunteers,” explained 4-H Program Coordinator, Danielle Gapinski. “Everyone was very adaptable to this new format.  We brainstormed ways to safely honor the participants in a way that gave everyone a little bit of normalcy.  What better way to do so than at the location of where the 4-H Fair is typically held?”

4-H Virtual Show participants are asked to proceed to the Hospitality Building at the Bureau County Fairgrounds where their awards will be distributed.  The generously donated wood carved 4-H bench, located at the 4-H Food Stand, will serve as a backdrop for photo opportunities.  Masks and social distancing practices will be followed.
